I haven't had any problems when shopping in quilt/fabric stores, but i do most of my shopping online. I took a class at a local church and of the dozen or so women, mostly middle aged, ,like myself, only a few were friendly and helpful, while the majority either ignored me or acted as if i had the plague. Wasn't much fun. I seem to be able to learn on my own . I subscribe to many quilting magazines and watch quilting demos on YouTube for most of my education.  If i were looked down on at a shop, i would make sure they heard about it and explain that I wouldn't be back in to spend any money. lol  Jim

I joined a quilt guild some yrs ago where I live(Nashville, TN) I was so disillusioned by the negative treatment -I vowed to never return and to date still have not. However, I didn't let the negative cause me to stop quilting. I don't frequent quilt shops much, since the internet is a good way to get supplies I need much cheaper. I'm also a handquilter -so many times people say why handquilt? -I say "Why not?!"

Hi Stefan, tried to reply to your comment (on my blog) however it said your email was no longer valid. Here was my reply (in relation to my vanishing point quilt)...

"I came across a similar quilt sometime about a year ago, but can't recall the website I saw it from. I have seen some similar quilts since on pininterest, but didnt bother repinning. One of my earlier posts shows how I strip-pieced around 16 strips of 2.5" by 8m together - and the from here I cut on the diagonal to give me 16 large triangles which formed two separate quilts... a blue and a green quilt. Certainly a fun quilt to work on!"
