Crumb blocks

Anyone make crumb blocks from their scraps? Make enough crumb blocks to make a quilt? Got any pictures?I have a bin of triangles, cuttings, and strips of asian fabrics that I decided this week to try and make some crumb blocks, or maybe a mile-a-minute blocks. My problem is I have some 3" - 5" pieces that have a motif I want to keep - a flower, a bird, ... So my blocks are not square, and they are getting large, like rectangles. Not sure how I am going to put these together, so I am looking for…See More

Hi Paul: Thanks for the interest. I am a artist (painting, sculpting, assemblage) and the transition from paint to fabric was very easy. My partner Debbie opened a quilt store when she retired from teaching and I had a hair salon (my day job) for nearly 40 years, and when I retired from that to persue art full time I started with the quilting. I now have a Millenium longarm and love it. I teach all the "wierd" classes at the shop. e.g. thread art, quilted rugs, painted quilts. I also have had many shows featuring my collage, assemblage, thread sculptures. When I learn to post photos, I will do so. By the way, we LOVE Boston. My oldest son goes to Boston often (Red Sox fan big time). I like to make abstract quilts and I have recently started experiencing on the longarm with piecing, quilting and painting all in one step. Love to experiment!

When the weather clears up here and I can get the photos of quilts out of the camera onto the puter then I wil get them on here. I hope by this weekend, just depends on God and Mother Nature.
